Teen Intensive Outpatient Program in Huntington Beach, California

At Buckeye Recovery Network, our Teen Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) in Huntington Beach, California, provides structured mental health support for adolescents who need more care than traditional weekly therapy while continuing to live at home.

Our Teen IOP gives adolescents a consistent place to work through emotional and behavioral challenges while staying connected to family, school, and everyday life. Through therapy, family involvement, and professional support, teens can develop healthier coping skills and greater emotional stability.

What Is a Teen Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)?

A Teen Intensive Outpatient Program, or Teen IOP, is a structured level of mental health treatment that provides multiple therapy sessions throughout the week without requiring adolescents to live at a treatment facility. Teen IOP can provide a middle ground between weekly outpatient therapy and a higher level of care. Adolescents receive more frequent professional support while returning home after treatment and continuing to participate in their regular routines when appropriate.

At Buckeye Recovery Network, treatment focuses on helping teens address emotional and behavioral concerns while practicing healthier ways to manage stress, relationships, school pressures, and other challenges.

Who Can Benefit From Our Teen Intensive Outpatient Program?

Our Teen IOP in Huntington Beach is intended for adolescents who need consistent mental health support but do not require 24 hour residential care.

Teen IOP may be appropriate for adolescents who:

  • Need more support than weekly outpatient therapy
  • Experience mental health symptoms that interfere with daily life
  • Struggle with emotional regulation or unhealthy coping behaviors
  • Are transitioning from a higher level of treatment
  • Need additional structure while continuing school and family life
  • Benefit from individual, group, and family based support

Family Involvement

Family support can play an important role in adolescent mental health treatment. Parents and caregivers often provide much of the structure and support teens rely on outside therapy, which is why family involvement may be incorporated into treatment when appropriate.

Our clinical team can also help families better recognize what their teen is experiencing and how they can provide healthy support at home. Client and family privacy remains an important part of the treatment process, with communication handled according to applicable privacy requirements.

Teen IOP Treatment Details

Teen IOP provides structured therapy throughout the week while allowing adolescents to continue living at home. The schedule provides more frequent clinical support than standard weekly counseling without requiring overnight treatment.

Group sessions can give teens a structured setting to communicate with peers, practice healthy social skills, and recognize that they are not alone in dealing with emotional challenges. Individual sessions provide private time to discuss personal concerns and treatment goals with a therapist.

Treatment length varies based on each adolescent’s progress, symptoms, treatment goals, and clinical recommendations. The clinical team can regularly review progress and adjust the level of support as needs change.

A Structured Huntington Beach Environment for Teens

Adolescence comes with rapid emotional, social, academic, and personal changes. For teens experiencing mental health challenges, those pressures can make everyday responsibilities harder to manage.

Buckeye Recovery Network’s Teen IOP provides a structured setting where adolescents can focus on their mental health while remaining connected to their lives outside treatment. Our goal is to help teens develop practical skills they can carry into everyday life while giving families additional support throughout the treatment process.

My son has been recovering from a very bad TBI that happened 5 years ago. While he navigates that disability, his reliance on substance abuse became a major issue. Buckeye Recovery and its staff gave him and our family hope for the first time in a long time that he can manage and thrive. I can call staff anytime and there is a very familial feel to there program.

Ohio house and buckeye recovery have been an extremely vital part in my sobriety. They have taught me how to grow up, how to be responsible, and how to take responsibility for my actions. The director of operations for the Ohio house, Cory, has been such a pivotal factor in my recovery from drugs and alcohol. The amount of effort and time that man puts into helping others is nothing short of astounding. He is a perfect example and representation of how working the 12 steps of AA can successfully change your life forever. Without the support of buckeye recovery and the Ohio house, there is no doubt in my mind that I would still be a lost soul unable to face life sober. I’m forever grateful for the opportunity they have given me; I am one of the lucky ones as I have been given a second chance at life.

It is my pleasure to leave a 5 star review to Buckeye Recovery. My grandson has been to many recovery centers through the years with NO success. Going to the Ohio House has been nothing short of a miracle. He has been there for 1 1/2 years and the transformation has been Amazing. The staff, counselors and programs are wonderful. I do have to say that Cory, the house manager has been the key to his success. He literally saved his life through his wisdom and compassion. We were pretty much done with the years of drugs and chaos. He is now 1 1/2 years drug free and has been working for a year at a job he loves. We are forever grateful to him. He also was always available to communicate with us to help him along the way. Thank you all again

I went to Buckeye recovery after I completed residential. They helped me work through my struggles with mental health and addiction. I had been to various programs that never seemed to help over the years. But, finally something connected when I went to Buckeye. Jim, Stewart, and the rest of the team are incredible. There’s experience guiding you through early recovery and trained therapy to help you through mental health issues. The groups are engaging and absolutely changed my life. I was very skeptical about going to an aftercare program and whether it could actually help. Buckeye is the gold standard in the industry and I couldn’t be more grateful that I found my way here.

Buckeye was a program that we found for my brother who has bipolar disorder and addiction as a sober living with an intensive out patient program integrated into it. Finding this gem of a place was a total God shot. If you yourself or a love one have dual diagnosis you know how hard sometimes it can be to find a place that not only allows your unique needs. But SUPPORTS you as well. It was not an easy road the whole time my brother was there. But they were there every step of that way. And made sure he got the help he need. They did not kick him out like other place in the past where he ended up missing and on the streets. All my interactions with the staff were positive. And one in particular went above and beyond to advocate for my brother. And when the time came for him to move on to another state to live where our mom is. He took him to the airport and made sure he got on the plane safe and sound. I will be forever grateful for this program and for that person especially for all he did for him.

I spent almost 7 months at Buckeye following a mental health crisis and I had a profound experience. From the staff to the programming, I felt well taken care of for the duration of my treatment. I was able to get the help I deserved in so many forms including: individual therapy, group therapy, sound healing, breath works, EMDR trauma therapy and much more. The tools I learned at Buckeye truly changed my life. Thank you to the whole team for all your kindness and dedication to your clients, you made me believe that I could overcome my mental illness and I feel like I have.
